Making stainless steel brooches for ALMOSTBLACK 2023 FW collection.
For fashion brand ALMOSTBLACK’s 2023 FW collection, its designer, Shunta Nakajima, was inspired by Sōfū Teshigahara, a founder of Sōgetsu-ryū of Ikebana flower arrangement. Our stainless steel brooches are one of these elements. We got inspiration from art pieces, vases, and sculptures made with metal by Sōfū. By not completely polishing the brooches, we were able to balance a soft sheen while still retaining the coldness of stainless steel. Our detachable brooches are sewn into their jackets, pants, and blousons to express Sōfū’s aesthetic for how contrasting materials can create beauty.
